- MSA joined with faculty and staff to begin addressing the issue of high textbook prices through a forum and participation in the University.s Textbook Task Force.
- Began building support for the creation of a long-term Collegiate Readership Program on campus that would provide free national and local newspapers to students
- Assisted the University to adapt to the changes in its affirmative action policy after the passage of Proposal 2 in November 2006 by participating in forums and committees designed to address the issues and educate students.

1. Goal: to establish closer contact with the Regents, by attempting to
establish a mechanism for regular contact with and reporting to the University?s highest reviewing body, possibly in connection with
the President of the Faculty Senate.
2. The University Judicial System was revamped this year. Dr. Cutler had been
considering a plan to place separate judiciaries under each of the 4 departments of the OSA and considered a recommendation on the
structure and duties of the new judiciary.
3. In light of the subpoena of UM membership lists of student groups SGC
considered ways of preventing the Administration from being caught in a position in which it feels it must compromise University
students. The first step was to find an alternative to the now-mandatory submission of membership lists of the various activity
clubs.
4. SGC tried to build good working relationships with all academic advisory
boards, such as lit School Steering Committee. Where such boards don?t exist, SGC pushed to have them formed. Using these boards,
SGC worked to encourage educational experimentation and reform.
5. SGC allocated $1000 as a contribution toward a campaign that endorsed the
idea that 18 year olds should have the right to vote.
6. Approved motion: that SGC hold a two-part referendum to be put before the
student body at the regular fall election on the sixteenth of November.
7. Approved motion: that SGC allocate $100 for the purpose of establishing and
operating for the current semester, jointly with the University Activities Center, a ?MARKET? to serve as a communications center
for students wishing to buy or sell merchandise and books.
8. Established rules covering the use of the fishbowl and diag.
9. SGC made changes to the Regulations concerning Student Organizations.
10. SGC was not in session that summer, and therefore approved a motion that any
change in student judicial or governmental structure on campus would gravely affect the student body and hence require scrutiny by
SGC, and therefore SGC declared that no changes in judicial structure, or other student government structure, will be formally
recommended or put into effect until SGC in it Fall, 1967 session shall have the opportunity to review such changes.

2. Standing Rule established: No member of SGC may concurrently hold membership
on the Committee on membership in Student Organizations.
3. SGC directed its Committee on Student Activities to compile information
concerning eligibility for student activities. Such information would include a history of the present eligibility rules;
definitions of "academic discipline", as determined by the individual college, recommendations from students, faculty and
administrators as to revised eligibility rules.
4. SGC abolished the Finance Committee in its present from and structure, this
committee was superseded by a Budget Committee which was expected to meet annually or when deemed necessary with the treasurer in
consultation and consideration of the proposed budget.
5. Amendment to Operating Procedures (roll call will be taken on main motions
and amendments to main motions if one-third of the members present and voting so desire)
6. Approved motion: Absentee votes on main motions and on amendments to main

1. A proposal was passed that called for the replacing of the Committee on
Student Affairs with the SGC and the Board in Review. The Council was to be made up of 18 members, eleven to be elected from the
campus at large and seven to be the Presidents of the major student activity groups on campus (IFC, Panhellenic Association,
Inter-house Council, Assembly Association, The Michigan League, the Michigan Union and The Michigan Daily). The Board in Review,
considered an integral part of the proposal, was a body composed of two students, three faculty members, the Dean of Men and the
Dean of Woman reverse decisions of the SGC.
