ISAC/airBus -- Welcome 2009

Hi! We're thrilled to announce a new pilot airBus service designed especially for international students! Help new students -- your current and future members -- enjoy a cheap, convenient ride to campus at the beginning of Fall 2009.

This page contains some resources you can use to spread the word. We're hoping that this pilot project succeeds so we can offer expanded airBus service every year. Explore how your international student association can help the effort...

Give ISAC/airBus a Shout on Your Website!

What's the first place international students look for info on the U-M community? International student association web sites, of course! Grab either one of this little images and place it on your website. Don't forget to link it right to ISAC/airBus. Let your existing membership know about ISAC/airBus!

Students from 58 countries use airBus already -- that surely includes some of your members. Let them know that airBus is available for this new season. Copy the text below and send it along to your existing email groups:

airBus -- Not just for Breaks Anymore... === Start your year on an inexpensive note. MSA airBus isn't just for breaks anymore! If you've used airBus before, you already know that it's cheap, fast and convenient. Now, airBus has partnered with ISAC (International Student Affairs Commission) of Michigan Student Assembly to offer -NEW- travel options at the beginning of the year. airBus and ISAC are offering service from Metro Airport to Ann Arbor on August 25, August 26 and August 27. We've targeted the service toward new international students, but any U-M student is welcome to ride. It's a pilot service, so a few things are different from regular airBus. Tell new students about ISAC/airBus!

If you've obtained emails of incoming students, help make their very first U-M experience a good one. Tell them that ISAC/airBus will be waiting to whisk them to U-M campus upon their arrival. Copy the text below and send it to any new students you've communicated with -- feel free to make minor adjustments as you see fit:

Welcome to U-M - Let ISAC/airBus Take You to Campus... === Dear New International Student: We're glad you're joining the U-M community! When you arrive at Detroit Metro Airport, we'd like to offer you a friendly, convenient, inexpensive ride to the U-M campus. Michigan Student Assembly, our central student government, coordinates a service called airBus. This service provides airport transportation for break times. In 2009, for the first time ever, we're running airBus trips for the beginning of the year. Service is available on August 25, August 26 and August 27. We'll take you, your bags, and any friends or family members directly to the U-M campus. The fare is $12 per person -- a fraction of what any other service charges. You don't need any cash to ride airBus -- the only thing you need is your UMID number which you received in your admission letter. Volunteer with ISAC/airBus!

We're looking for friendly faces to welcome new students and guide our operations at the airport on August 25, August 26 and August 27. It's a fun, easy way to contribute. We have volunteer shifts available at these times -- sign up for as many or as few shifts as you like:

Jump on the Welcome Wagon!

Our goal is to make new students feel welcome right away. We'll be staffing Metro Airport with friendly, helpful people to make sure new students find the bus without problem. Once they arrive in Ann Arbor, we'd like to show them all the wonderful programs and activities sponsored by international student associations.
